Thank you to EVERYONE (100% participation!) for attending parent teacher conferences on time! Your punctuality and thoughtfulness made for a very successful yet lengthy (25 children x 30 minutes= 13 hours!)sharing time. I always enjoy touching base with families and sharing all the learning that is taking place.
Highlights in the classroom over the last few weeks include studying about trees/wood. Our essential question for discovery and learning was "how do trees help people and animals". We had a great deal of discussion and discovery about the topic. I think everyone is being a little more conservative in their paper use. Hopefully we will have a trip to Edgewood Park before the snow flies!
Town Meeting was awesome! I hope your children continue to sing the songs at home. Thank you to Chris Volpe for the great pictures.
Our publishing celebration was also a big success. The children loved reading their original stories to their favorite stuffed animals. They see themselves as authors and illustrators! We are now working on writing across pages, using transitional words like "first", "and then", and "in the end" in planning their small moments.
Take a moment to read the stories posted outside the classroom.
We are excited about our trip on Friday to Manjares. I know that it is a local hangout for many of the children. It will be very exciting to recreate a restaurant in dramatic play.
On Wednesday, December 14th we will be going to the Mitchell Library. Please check your Friday Folder for library card applications and field trip permission slips.
Enjoy the pictures!
